Gamul Soraya meaning 'small and beautiful', is a shallow dive site located at the southern side of a small circular reef. In the northwest is a small sandy plateau which houses a very large population of eels, all sticking there heads up out of the sand, which is a very strange sight. In the east near some small ergs are some colorful hard and soft corals to be admired.
Safaga Island or locally named Gamul can mean several things. In Arabic it can mean 'beautiful large', while it can also be named after the Hebrew meaning of Gamul, which is camel. During winter it is often impossible to dive at these places as the strong northern wind makes mooring for boats impossible.
