One of the most famous dive sites around Hurghada is Stone Beach which is also known as Umm Dom and Hamda. It is located just off shore from Giftun Kebir with a beautiful white sandy beach and some spectacular cliffs above it. Under water is a small 15 meter deep plateau from where a steep wall drops down to 30 meters. The wall is full of the common reef fish, coral, stonefish, morays and octopus. Into the blue are reef sharks, barracudas, turtles, jacks and tuna which all wait for their meal of the day. Whale sharks have been reported in this area, but only in the right season.
