One of the best known dive sites near Dahab is named the Canyon. Some refer to it as the Fish Bowl or the Coral Gardens but these are actually names of divesites very nearby. The Canyon has been created because of volcanic activity some time ago and is 10 meter deep at most places. It is long and narrow and runs north to south from a shallow reef just offshore. It has three main man sized openings, one at 12 meter which is called the Fish Bowl and another one at 20 and 52 meters. The nearby coral garden features a nice wall full of hard and soft corals.

Cave and cavern fanatics definitely have to do this dive, as well as enriched air divers who want to explore the deepest parts of the canyon. At night during full moon, diving here is a spectacle as well. Fish life is flourishing and some of the species you will see are huge schools of anthias, groupers, some turtles but also parrotfish, nudi branches, octopuses, glassfish and seamoths. It is a must do while you are in Dahab. Crowded most of the time but well worth it.
