The scuba dive region named Marsa Alam encloses all dive sites in between Marsa Galeb and Wadi Gamal. The main scuba diving town in this area is Marsa Alam, which offers good accommodations, equipment and opportunities for top day dives. Dive sites in Marsa Alam are accessible from shore and tend to have been eaten by crown of thorn star fish, but there are many very nice reefs left such as the dive site Elphinstone Reef. Still, most divers do not stay in Marsa Alam itself but arrive here by live-aboard, which often start in Quseir.

The water temperature is nice at 21 degrees in winter to 27 degrees in summer (early October). The Egyptian Climate is hot and dry, ranging from 45 degrees in summer to 22 in winter. Scuba diving can be done year around, with underwater visibilities between 10 and 50 meters, depending on the visited dive spot and wind conditions. Entering this adventurous fishing village will be a great experience. You will arrive in a very sleepy town, but it is still possible to arrange the things you came here fore, but be patient!
