The MV Hatour was a small Egyptian live-aboard which sank in November 2001. Stories tell us that she struck the reef of Abu Kafan and she was towed to Sha’ab Sheer, because of its shallow waters. The boat was already taking water, but not before they arrived at Sha’ab Sheer were the passengers able to leave the boat. In the next few months the whole boat was stripped, nothing of value remained, and nowadays the only visible part is the wooden hull, resting in 16 meters of water. She is located at the southeast side of Sha’ab Sheer which is nice, because it adds some color to the otherwise somewhat dull south side.

You shouldn't need more than 10 minutes to investigate the boat as it sank recently and is not that interesting yet. There are two small ergs nearby which are decorated with some soft corals. Fish such as Spanish dancers and morays can be seen, but don’t expect too much of this dive site. For more advanced diving it is better to explore the northern sides of Sha'ab Sheer.
