Al Kahfain was a passenger and vehicle ferry of 115 meters long ferrying between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In November 2005 she struck Abu Nuhas which had a fire as a result. The crew couldn’t control the fire and abandoned the ship; no passengers were aboard. The ferry drifted away and the Egyptian government started to do something about it when it was already as far as Safaga. There they planned to let it struck into Sha'ab Sheer reef. This is its final resting place, lying upside down in 25 meters of water.

It is quite a new wreck so don't expect too much coral, but the conditions this wreck is still in, makes it a great experience. You can actually see the ship moving in the currents, which give it a ghostly like appearance. The ship has definitely not found its final resting place yet, so be very careful on wreck diving here. You can still see the name, propellers and some very nice interior areas.
