Most dive sites in Quseir are shore dives and in stead of dive boats, there are 4WD vehicles that bring you to the dive spot in question. Scuba diving is subject to often strong winds coming from the sea so be careful of wind-driven waves.
Quseir was a very thriving port until 1869 when the Suez Canal opened. Now it is a sleepy town which has quite a laid back atmosphere. There are not many tourists as most of them come by live-aboards and are not actually stopping here.
Water temperatures are very nice between 21 to 27 degrees. Land temperatures can reach more than 45 degrees in summer and go as low as 20 in winter and even lower further in the desert. Diving here is possible year around and well established by mainly German and Scandinavian dive operators. Good gear is available and day boats as well as live-aboards can easily be arranged. Pay attention though that it might take a few days between booking and actually leaving on a safari tour.
