At the southeast tip of Fury Shoal and northeast of Ras Banas lies Sattaya, which is a place that offers many safe places to anchor. There are many sheltered lagoons which provide for excellent coral growth and very different species of fish compared with the outer site of the reef. There you will find the big pelagic, playing with the currents and hunting for food. Dolphin reef, a horseshoe shaped reef, is named because of the many dolphins that are regularly spotted here. There are many dive sites on this reef but most of them are located at the east and south side of the reef. The eastern site has a steeply sloping wall with many pinnacles and coral heads in the sand, often dived as a drift dive next to the wall. Life in the south, near a shallow plateau, seems to be the most colorful and is also often used for night diving. During night we can add several species of crab and shrimp. Don't forget that the north has a lot to offer as well, but it is only accessible in good weather. Sites here are quieter which can lead to some special encounters.

Whether you want large pelagic action near the outer side of the wall or colorful regular marine life and coral near the lagoon, dolphin reef has it all. You will encounter the occasional whitetips, many fusiliers and shoals of tuna and jacks. But also shoals of bannerfish, goatfish, spanish dancers and parrotfish, not to mention all the diverse types of coral. And of course, the reason most people go here, are the many dolphins that inhabit this area.
