At the East side of Sha'ab Abu Nuhas is the Kimon M, a German cargo vessel of more than 100 meters of length. Its former name was the Dora Oldendorf and the name Olden can still be seen on the vessel's hull. The Olden and Kimon M are mixed up with each other very often and even now we are not sure yet whether they might even be the same ones. It sank in December 1978 and was loaded with lentils when it hit the reef. The cargo ship Interasja saved all the crew and returned them to Suez.
The ship is located at its starboard side and it took weeks before it actually sank to its current depth of 30 meters. You can still see the handmade hole near the engine room to safe the engines. Coral coverage is not spectacular yet, but the ship is new, has some interesting cargo holds and houses some big creatures.
