Even though the recent revolution, scuba diving in Egypt is very safe. The activities are not against tourists and mainly concentrated in Cairo, far away from the idealic Red Sea beach dive destinations.

For professional divers with their own gear and searching for undiscovered scuba sites, try the southern less developed regions of Egypt. Try Quseir, Marsa Alam, Ras Banas or even more south to St John's Reef. You can also take one of the live-aboards that visit Sudan or the remote islands in the Red Sea. Stunning coral formations, unexpected marine life and virtually no scuba divers in sight. Scuba divers in Egypt often find beautiful dive sites unexplored.

Novice divers should visit well established scuba diving area's such as Dahab, Hurghada, Tiran and Sharm el-Sheik. Diving and snorkeling are popular activities, often more crowded, less colourful reefs coral and fish, but renting dive equipment is easy and dive shops are plentiful. Dive and snorkel are not the only entertainment activities here. The nightlife is great, beaches are very nice and their are tours to visit the Piramids or other archeological sites.

Some of the top diving locations in Egypt are the stunning British transport wreck the Thistlegorm and several offshore reefs which are only accessible by live-aboard tours. Enjoy the Red Sea of Egypt and its scuba and dive opportunities!
