Dive sites at Sha'ab el-Erg Reef

The inner lagoon of Sha'ab el-Erg does its name right as it is literally covered with pinnacles. It is a horse shoe shaped reef often used for live-aboards to spend the night or for safari boats that want to do night dives but snorkelers are common as well. Most tour operators from Hurghada don't go this far south, so start in El Gouna if you definitely want to do this dive. Don't expect to see the best reef in this area, because it are the microscopic creatures that will entertain you here. Macroscopic photographers will have a good time enjoying the colors of nudibranches and seastars because of reflecting sunrays.
